Why are the girls so often barefoot on So You Think You Can Dance?

Posted on Tuesday in so you think you can dance | by

Even when the guys are dancing right next to them with shoes on, the girls will be barefoot. Why?!!!

They dance barefoot in contemporary or sometimes in jazz. I think because when you have such a graceful dance like contemporary, it should be done pure and natural. That’s just my intake on it.

I think that this is usually with contemporary, because with that style dancing it wouldn’t necessarily look good to have shoes on.

But I don’t know. That’s just my thought. I know when I do contemporary/lyrical/modern I don’t go barefoot, but I wear foot undies, which makes it look like I’m barefoot, but it’s easier to turn. I don’t do much of this style though, so I’m not really knowledgeable on this :)

Because they are wearing foot undeez you cant see them they are nude and they help you turn but if not its just easier and not needed :)

It is much easier to dance barefoot that I am surprised more guys do not do it.

Many styles of modern dance & folk dance are done barefoot.

It’s a lot easier to dance barefoot too. You feel a lot lighter on your feet. It’s not clear to me how someone can dance in those high-heel shoes. I’d think you’d trip & land flat on your face.
