Who won dancing with the stars 2009

The winner of season eight is…..Shawn Johnson!
I was pretty shocked. Melissa was eliminated late in the show, so that left Shawn (and Mark) and Gilles (and Cheryl) in the final two.
Tom Bergeron said that the winner won by only 1% of votes, so it was pretty close.
I was rooting for Melissa, and I thought her and Gilles would be the final two. Once Melissa was eliminated, I thought Gilles would win because he had the highest scores all season. But, Shawn probably has more fans, so the fan votes is what won it for her. I think her and Mark were kind of shocked as well!! Overall, it was my favorite season and I can't wait for the new one in the fall!!

Unfortunately, Shawn won. I thought she was the dark horse as she wasn't very good. Gilles deserved to win as he was the very best dancer all season long.
