Firstly, find your focus. Whether it be popping, locking, breaking, bboying, whatever floats your boat,
. For me, personally, I'm a popper, and more specifically, tut-er, haha. It's really what works for you, and focus on that. So hop onto Wikipedia and do some research! But, I suppose its not really necessary.
If you can, you should try to find a good, real hip-hop class in your area. A lot of dance studios have what I call recital hip-hop, you know, when you go to your little sister's dance recital, but you know they would never make it on So You Think You Can Dance types. So, if there is one in your area, try to go take a class. Even if you're nervous to go in front of other people, everyone else had a first time too, and there's nothing to be embarrassed about. But its best to go out and take a class in person, because you can experience learning, ask questions, and get feedback to improve.
However, if you can't seem to find one. your next best bet is Youtube. The videos you find on there will help TREMENDOUSLY if you know what you're looking for. If you take a hiphop class, its not really necessary to have a certain focus, but, when searching through the thousands and thousands of videos on Youtube, it might be nice to have a few key words like, popping, or tutting.
You could also try buying some videos to help, I have no personal experience, but one of my closest friends, and one of the most amazing poppers I've ever met, taught himself through buying videos and practicing.
Most important, however, is practice! No matter if you take a class, watch Youtube, or buy videos, the only way you'll learn and get better is if you practice! Even if its just learning 10 seconds of someone's video a day, perfecting that will get you one step closer to where you want to be.
Oh, and one last note, watch So You Think You Can Dance, some of the hiphop guys on there (PACMAN!!) are amazing in their genre. I find watching people makes me better, because you can pick up on the little details that make them great, and integrate them into your own work.
Why would you WANT TO? if you are going to put that much effort into learning something.. then why spend it learning low class sh*t.

Forget what you know. When learning hip-hop dance moves, you have to throw away what you've done in the past and embrace the new style of dance.
Step 2Find the beat. The key to learning hip-hop dance moves is finding the beat. Listen for the driving beat of the base. If you're having a difficult time finding the beat, stop and listen. Ignore every instrument or distraction except for the base. Once you're able to find it, you're ready to go to the next step.
Step 3Turn on your TV. To get the latest in hip-hop music and dances, turn to a video music channel such as BET, MTV or VH1. Depending on your cable lineup, you may have more music video channels. These channels are great places to watch the pros in action.
Imitate the dance moves. You can do this in the privacy of your own room. The key is repetition. The more you imitate the hip-hop moves, the easier and more natural they become.

Take a hip hop dance class in your area. Look up vids on youtube. There are a ton of them. Practice, picking up the dance moves and listen to the beat. Don't think too much, just do what comes naturally.

I would try looking for Adam Sevani trying his stuff. Go to these links and look for Adam Sevani on Youtube. the point of dance is really to move to the music. let the music move you rather than you moving the music. Adam G. Sevani from Step Up 2 the streets will help you (he's really amazing)
