I find this song to be haunting. I remember hearing it when I was 14 and it has stuck with me ever since. It is well documented that no one has ever been able to determine the meaning of the song. At one point, the artist said it was about a dream he had that was so powerful.
I feel like my fiance is a dream to me, so amazing that it’s almost not real. So I ask you, do you like this song as a first dance song?
I know everyone (ok, well not everyone, but some people) will be like: what the was that song about?? .. and I love that mystery aspect to it.

So I guess your fiance likes it too? If he does not mind then there is no discussion right? This will hopefully be the first dance of the rest of your lives so I feel should be special to both of you. With that I would make sure it is ok with him.
I am a little confused about one thing, the meaning of the song. If the author said it was about a powerful dream he had then all the other documentation would be false right?
Anyway, it is a good song, was a major hit, and you will probably never know how many people used this as a first dance song during the ’60′s and ’70′s. It is also still played a lot in England. You might like to know(in case you didn’t) that the song has been copied over 900 times.

I love that song! It’s a classic for sure! I think this song would be a great first dance song because it’s unique.That song is very mystical! Most people at a wedding chose to dance to love songs. I think you’ve picked a good choice because it’s not a typical love song. I love oldies and music in general!

Its Your wedding, its Your song, and it doesn’t have to have meaning to anybody but you!!, I think it’s a classic, and it has a great tune to dance the first dance!! (even if it doesn’t really mean anything)

I love this song, its amazing and your right about the mysterious qualities. If you love it then that’s what you should have, as its been said, all that matters is that it is important to you and your fiance. Having said that, I find the song quite sad and you would need a very slow dance to go with it, but if it fits your style, you can make anything work.
