I’m thinking about giving up alcohol for good. It does me no good, I never know when to stop and I always feel sick and depressed for a few days after I drink. I just want to ask people, both who drink and don’t, is it possible to go out and not drink and still have an awesome time? Obviously after time it gets easier, but I tried it a few times and I found that I’m definitley not as outgoing and I feel weird dancing.
Would you be able to do it? And if you are someone that doesn’t drink, do you go out to clubs and stuff, and how do you feel?
Thanks so much for any info

You would be very wise to give up alcohol. "I never know when to stop" and "sick and depressed for a few days" are red flags that your metabolism is not well suited to drinking.

You can certainly go out to clubs and have fun with your friends. Plenty of designated drivers voluntarily refrain from drinking at all, and still enjoy an evening of dancing and socializing. The "real you" may not be as outgoing as the "lit up you", but that’s OK. Imagine if someone were to make a video of an evening’s goings-on. You might be dismayed at some of the stuff that happens when people are drinking.

Myself, I take several prescription medicines, and some of them carry warnings that they’re incompatible with alcohol. I order fruit juices or soft drinks, and nobody seems to care. Our friends are smart and funny, and we always have a good time together.

In the long run, as you become more mature, your social life will probably develop more along the lines of dinner parties, theater excursions, and evenings at home with friends. "Going out clubbing" won’t necessarily be your main source of entertainment with other people.

I usually do the two step when at lunch when I am in the line to go buy and people come up to me all the time and say stuff like "Dat be like the dopest 2-stepping shi-at that I ever be seen" and "you need to get on dancing with da stars like now, b-i-t-c-h"

And I want to dance with the stars and no longer in the lunch line.

There are two ways to get on that show, be a star or be a dance professional. To be a dance professional, you’re going to have to know many more dances than just one. And you’ll also need to be able to teach.

So start taking dance classes in as many types of dance as you can and learn from the best of your teachers.

I’ve got no problem slow dancing or keeping rhythm, I play multiple instruments and that comes naturally. But…I’m sick of going to parties and doing that same step dance move to hip hop songs (basically that move in the movie Hitch). I’d like to learn to dance hip hop. Any recommendations? Moves you recommend starting with? I know taking lessons would be best and would like to soon, but to start what should I do?

Dancing kinda is a feeling you have to be comfortable with.

I guess the best to start out with from easy to harder..

Airwalk, gliding, waving, popping&locking, tutting and then trying integrating it with some c-walk(V, heeltoe, shuffle) maybe some jerk ( variation on reject looks ok)… and if you are getting good do some KRUMPING!.. though depends on where you are a more clean version is usually recommended people don’t want to start thinking you’re about to fight someone!

I missed it. Fill me in.

Yes. She seemed awkward and stiff, like she didn’t know what she was doing. Her smile seemed fake, but I think it’s because she was so nervous. She wasn’t the worst, but nowhere near the best. They cut her some slack because she’s not like the other people on the show, she’s not an athlete or in show business. She’s just a mom of eight who happened to have her own tv show.

background:
did bad in high school, down that i’m just going to a community college [not what i planned] i haven’t started school yet and i don’t feel like going through w/ it….

i’m gay and i’m always seeing negative comments about it online [i'm on the comp a lot]
i have no friends-friends…so i feel alone and stuck at home day after day
i have no family [i do, but they're never around and we're not close so i feel alone more]
i’m 19
life is boring…i have a job and that’s all i do with my life

sure you can be, you could have been depressed your entire life and not even know it, because what you feel is normal. Feeling happy is foreign to you.

lots of people dont have a life outside of work. They get up, go to work and come home, just to do the same thing all over again. There are places you can find that will accept you for who you are. Just keep trying.

that’s part of being a dancer, you have to be qiuck at picking up coreography and good at perfecting it. To be America’s Best Dancer you have to hold all the qualities a dancer should have. No coreographer wants to work with someone who’s slow at picking up coreography, it’s to slow. They’ll find someone better if they’re not fast enough at learning it.
People on SYTYCD are being evaluated as America’s Best Dancer, meaning they better be quick at learning coreogrpahy and amazing at preforming it.

When people sit down to meditate, they are often all chasing a different goal. Some simply take to meditation as a way to relax and think clearly. Some take to meditation because it helps them concentrate and focus. While others are hoping to gain insight about their life and gain a special wisdom that can only be obtained through the introspection that comes with meditation.

Here are a few helpful tips to help you gain the insight and wisdom you’re looking for from meditation.

·	Everyone knows that when you meditate, you are told to clear your mind of any troublesome or bothersome thoughts so that you may delve into the realm of deep and complete meditation. But if you are looking to gain wisdom on a particular nagging question, you can simply focus on that one topic as you relax and let your mind go, except for that one burning question. Let all your other worries from the day fall off your back like rainwater, but keep the topic you wish to gain insight on close to your heart. You will see better results this way if that is why you are choosing to meditate.

·	Something you can do to increase your focus on the topic you wish to gain insight on is to place a small object, a reminder of some kind, in the palm of your hand when you meditate. Even if you close your hand into a fist when you meditate, you can feel the object pressing into your palm. You can focus your mind’s energy on that object and this will help mind to wrap itself around the problem you want to solve. Even if you simply place the object in front of you instead of in your hand, you’ll know that it is there and it will serve as a constant reminder of what wisdom you wish to gain from your meditation session.

·	The same essential goal can be had by putting on some quiet music while you meditate. It should be on very, very quietly, only loud enough for you to barely make out while you enter your meditation. Make sure the song (put it on repeat so it plays over and over during your session) has a direct link to the problem you’re hoping to gain wisdom on. If the topic you wish to gain insight on is about money, have it be a song you associate with wealth. If it is a relationship problem, make it a song that you associate with that particular person. Don’t allow the music to be loud enough that it will disturb your meditative state, only loud enough for it to dance upon the outer reaches of your mind as you meditate.

·	To get your mind into the proper frame before you even sit to meditate, spend the 10 minutes immediately before you meditate thinking about the issue you wish to gain insight on. You don’t have to do any hardcore brainstorming, just ponder it quietly. Think about different angles involved and different ways you could approach it.

·	Scent can also be a strong trigger for memory and creative thought. If it all possible, try to have something near you that you associate with the problem you’re trying to resolve. If it is a relationship problem, have a small dab of cologne or perfume. If it is about money, have a scent that reminds you of wealth and prosperity. The nose and the mind work closely together, don’t underestimate the power the two can have on your meditation.

·	Make sure you meditate for wisdom and insight during a time when you will not be distracted. You are essentially asking your mind to perform an elaborate series of tasks that can all be shattered by a curious child interrupting or a careless spouse stumbling upon you. Try to do this style of meditation when you’re completely alone and there is zero chance you’ll be bothered. Also, the amount of time this style of meditation takes varies greatly. Make sure you have plenty of time to meditate. When estimating the time you’ll need, it’s better to overestimate then underestimate since you don’t want to be on the verge of a breakthrough and then be disturbed.

·	To solve some tougher problems, it may take multiple sessions, sometimes even months worth of delicate introspection before a problem is properly solved. Depending on how your mind approaches the problem and how deep your meditation is, different problems with be solved at different paces. Don’t get frustrated and don’t give up. Remember, even if you don’t solve the problem at all, you’re still doing your body a world of good by meditating in the first place. Give it time and in most cases, you’ll be very happy with the results.

The keys to successful insight and wisdom meditation can be tough to grasp for some. In this world of instant gratification, it can be hard for some newcomers to meditation to have the patience if they don’t get what they are looking for right away. But the path to true inner peace, not to mention wisdom and insight, is a long and winding one and only those with dedication will be able to reap the reward.

Did you ever notice how most people who start off at a young age taking piano lessons rarely continue past high school? Then, when these people grow into adults many of them will eventually regret their decision to quit. So much so that, many will actually seek out a new piano teacher and start all over again.

Why do most people quit? I don’t think it’s because they’re not motivated or they don’t like music. I believe it’s because they don’t realize why they’re taking piano lessons in the first place. Sure they can tell you that music is important and they probably should be trying harder but the fact is most simply cannot tell you the real reason for learning in the first place.

Do you want to know why? Ok, here it is. I truly believe that music is engrained into our subconscious and most of us truly want a way to express ourselves in ways that words cannot. Not only has music been around since the dawn of time, way longer than most modern forms of entertainment but, music is an integral part of our humanity.

Music resides deep within us and when we hear it, sing it, play it, share it, learn it, teach it or even dance to it, we get a little closer to who we truly are; multi-dimensional beings who are ultimately creative.

So why do we quit? Because we get discouraged when we cannot express ourselves through music the way we want to. Usually this happens because we compare our abilities to others and the distance between the way we play music now and where we want to get seems insurmountable. But, here’s the good news. Nothing can get in your way of learning if you just realize that know matter how you play you cannot be bad. Expressing yourself in any way with music is a good thing and can never ever be bad.

Now, I’m not going to go as far as saying that most piano teachers cause their students to quit because that would mean that it’s intentional. Nothing could be further from the truth. However, I do believe that many teachers lack the necessary skills to teach their students how to play from within. What does that mean? It means that teachers know how to teach notes, scales, rhythm, harmony and how to play a piece of music. What most of them fail to realize is that there is much more to teaching music than just what the mind can absorb.

If teachers knew how to tap into the souls of their students by providing the right motivational, emotional and spiritual information then, it would be easier for their students to overcome all the obstacles of learning to play. In fact, no obstacle is too big to overcome on the way to learning to be a great artist or musician. The drive is within all of us, it just needs to be recognized.

So, how can teachers learn the necessary skills? By learning how to tap into their own creative energy. You see it’s all about energy. It would be impossible for a teacher to share information about energy if the teacher lacks the creative energy themselves. Creative energy comes from within. In my experience, many teachers have never learned how therefore can’t possibly teach it.

Learning to tap into creative energy is a process which can be learned. It’s never too late. The first step to learning is realizing that you are not already connected to this energy. Then, once you realize that you’re not connected you begin to search for ways to get connected. How? By focusing on the reasons you play music. For example; you do not play music to impress rather you play music to inspire.

Music causes emotional changes within us that are positive. Most music anyway. Of course you have to be wary of low energy music that disguises itself as high energy music such as heavy pounding rock with repetitive angry lyrics. But, piano does not fall into this category. Piano music is the perfect outlet to express innate creative energy. If more teachers are to see the results they desire then more teachers will have to tap into their own creative energy.
