I guess the best to start out with from easy to harder..

Airwalk, gliding, waving, popping&locking, tutting and then trying integrating it with some c-walk(V, heeltoe, shuffle) maybe some jerk ( variation on reject looks ok)… and if you are getting good do some KRUMPING!.. though depends on where you are a more clean version is usually recommended people don’t want to start thinking you’re about to fight someone!

I mean like kind of dance moves do you learn?

Does hip hop mean modern dancing or break dancing?

I’m thinking about joining a dance class,and I didn’t want to learn jazz or something like that. If you can include videos to you answer that would be wonderful! Thanks(:

it depends on the class you go and the style of hip hop the instructor teaches…a lot of classes teach choreo-based hip hop (also called west coast or lyrical hip hop)…in that type of class the instructor will teach a routine with the class level determining how difficult, complicated, and long the routine is…beginner level classes the routine is short and simple with lots of opportunity to repeat and practice what was learned in that segment…in harder classes the routine is more difficult and longer with more being learned before practicing the moves…however technically there is no learning of the "basic dance moves" in these classes since the style doesnt have things like a basic step like a six-step in breaking…

other classes that teach other styles of hip hop (like krump or housing or breaking)…for more beginner classes they will teach the basic moves for that style and break down how to do them…as the classes get more advanced the instructors usually have the students either work on a routine or performance-styled piece or have them freestyle and battle in the class to work on their style and personal flavor…

There are some wonderful movies out there with a theme about dancing. They are timeless in nature even though they have been around for decades. When they are on TV those of us that have already seen them will watch them again and again. Those that are seeing them for the first time will be very impressed with them. There is just something magical about dancing that reels us in and gets out blood pumping faster!

Dirty Dancing is a movie with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray. The story involves a determined young lady with all of the perks in life and her family going to a summer retreat where music and dancing are part of the program. She then meets the character of Swayze named Johnny who teaches dance.

She realizes that many people don’t have life as easy as her and she is willing to stand up for the ways in which they have been wronged. Of course this comes at the expense of her family being disappointed with some of her choices.

The movie has plenty of great dance moves for all of us to pick up on. It also have some great segments where Gray is trying to learn the right moves and we can all appreciate how trying those types of efforts can be for us. Of course Dirty Dancing is also a love story that everyone loves with the guy getting his girl in the end.

Who can forget the 80’s dance movie Footloose with Kevin Bacon? The theme song by Kenny Loggins is still played all the time on the radio and at dances. This movie involves a young man moving to a new location where his aunt and uncle are from. He stands out due to his loud music and his love for dancing. There is no dancing in that town as it was banned by the Reverend.

Footloose is also a great love story for the younger people to appreciate as well as about learning to stand up for yourself when you are struggling to fit in. There are rumors that Footloose is being remade though with Zack Effron from High School Musical stepping into that lead role. Only time will tell if this project is real or just one myth circulating on the internet.

Flashdance is another great hit movie with inspiring dancers doing all that they can in order to make that dream they have a reality. It gives you an insight into the fact that being a talented dancer isn’t always easy. There are many sacrifices to be made along the way. It also shows that there is plenty of hard work and dedication that goes into it. Professional dancers don’t just wake up one day with all the right moves to make it happen. Instead they have to be creative, take risks, and continue to work to make it all look like it should out there.

No mention of movies with dancing would be complete though if we didn’t bring some of John Travolta’s roles into the picture. In both Saturday Night Fever and Grease he shows us some amazing dance moves that have made him famous again and again. While most of his roles now don’t involve dancing it is often what we think of when we see this great performer.

Some of the best moves of the disco era came from Saturday Night Fever and some of you reading this even have a smile on your face as you recall doing those moves yourself back then. Even though the styles of dancing are varied in these movies, they are all timeless icons that you just can’t help but be drawn in by.

Most parents consider putting their child in some after school sport from an early age. Many of them change their minds when they realize how expensive and time-consuming that sport will be for them and their child.

Although some sports can be hard on the wallet, they may be worth the sacrifice. Sports activities do involve considerable time commitment, but there are some reasons why that can be beneficial to your child.

Two of my grandchildren were involved in sports since they were preschoolers. One is a boy and the other is a girl. Both of them started playing soccer as recreation when they were that age. They enjoyed the high physical activity of playing soccer on a regular basis. Neither of them were disciplinary problems at home or at school throughout their school years.

My grandson is the oldest and has a very calm personality. On the soccer field, he was a dynamo player. He developed physically and became very well toned. He was very self disciplined both in his academics and in his sports activities. He was at the top of his class all through school even though he spent a lot of time involved with both soccer practice and games.

His parents never had any trouble getting him to go to bed on time. He was worn out from practicing soccer. He ate a healthy diet to stay in good shape for all the physical energy he put into soccer. Year after year, he continued to play soccer and continued to excel in his classes.

When he graduated from high school, he was well known in his communities both for his reputation in soccer but also for his impeccable character. He went on to college and graduated with an engineering degree. Now he is employed as an engineer and is very happily married to his college sweetheart.

My grand daughter has a totally different personality. Although she is very quiet and unassuming, physically she has always been very hyper. She is in a constant state of motion. When she isn’t practicing dance moves, she is kicking a soccer ball.

Not only has she been involved in soccer from an early age, she also played basketball all through school. Besides her time spent in sports, she was in dance classes and recitals from the age of four until she was in 9th grade.

Even though she has been very busy with all the practices and games, she continued to carry a full academic load. She has continued to have an excellent grade point average all through school. Now that she can drive, her parents are relieved of some of their transporting duties. Most of the time, her parents have taken turns attending her games and recitals, always supporting her efforts.

She has never gotten into trouble at school or with law enforcement. Neither has her brother. Maybe they never got in trouble because they didn’t have time with all their sports commitments. She hasn’t shown any interest in dating either. She said she just doesn’t have time right now. However, she has gone to proms and other special school activities. Her dates for these events have been boys she knows from her sports teams.

When she graduates this summer, she will be attending college with a soccer scholarship. She is very excited about going to college even though she has no career plans yet. She is a very sweet innocent girl, but a dynamo, like her brother, when she is on the field. Even when her team doesn’t win, she is happy because she just loves to play.

My conclusions are that sports involvement is good for children. It teaches them how to work as a team player. Sports activities require self discipline which is good because it helps build a good foundation for their adult lives.

Having something specific to do with their time is beneficial and keeps them from feeling bored. Sports involvement gives them a sense of purpose and belonging. Those children and teens who are active in sports haven’t got time to think about getting into trouble. Doesn’t it sound like it is worth your financial and time investment?
