It is possible for anybody to learn how to dance even if he is not blessed with the skill of dancing. And because dancing is one way to express your real emotions by doing various body movements, a dance class can actually help you learn to do the moves.

Oftentimes, a lot of young girls are willing to enroll in dance classes, but only a few totally understand how they can make the most from their lessons. A progressive dance lesson will result only if students fully grasp the idea of how to approach their classes properly.

Dance students must understand that goal setting is the number one factor towards a successful dance lesson. The dance instructor should be able to set a task for the students and in turn, the students must be able to perform the tasks. There should also be a good relationship between the student and the instructor. In fact, a one on one discussion between both parties is essential especially in identifying what needs to be developed in terms of the skills and abilities of the student. A good partnership should have physical and mental participation as well.

In some instances, some students are too focused with their own facets of dancing because of their desire to ‘do everything right’. This can be risky especially if the instructor is trying to work on something else. Therefore, dance students should understand that performing their old moves and learning new ones do not stop there. In a dance class, students must direct their attention to whatever the instructor has chosen for the class, as far as the techniques and lessons are concerned. It is the prerogative of the instructor if he incorporates your old techniques with the ones you’ve just learned.

If you are enrolled in a dance class, keep in mind that your instructor is your boss, your teacher, and your guide. It does not help both ways when you don’t allow your instructor to have his own judgment. A good dance student does not have second thoughts when it comes to discussing his/her dance weaknesses with the dance instructor. In fact, instructors appreciate it if they are given the lead to teach and work on their abilities towards the goals of the students.

Another very common idea to become successful in the field of dancing is constant practice. It has long been noted that students who spend more time practicing have better performances than those who aren’t that focused on practicing. In any field that entails physical capability, such as sports, most students feel the need to practice even harder to achieve their goals. Sadly though, some social dance students don’t think it is that important to practice at all.

Dancing entails a lot of concentration. And the best way to perfect a dancing skill is through habitual repetition. However, repeated actions can sometimes lead to undesirable effects. Thus, utmost care must be observed to ensure that you practice properly.

A dance class is essential especially if you have that inner desire to learn more. With sheer determination and constant dedication, you can become successful with your dreams of being a good dancer in no time.

I’m a teenager who is interested in taking dance lessons.
I was thinking about take ballet, my mom says it’s a bit pricey and to think about taking dance lessons more.
Is it really pricey?
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions in what type of dance I should take?

Ballet if the foundation for all types of dance. It develops your stamina, body strength, and flexibility. I highly recommend taking ballet if you want to get anywhere with your dancing. Jazz & lyrical are very fun classes, and they are very good for flexibility! Tap & Hiphop are also really awesome classes to take, but you probably won’t get as much out of them as you would from ballet or jazz. I personally love tap, but it is usually just a good, fun workout. Depending on what level you are at, how many classes your taking, and which dance studio you are taking at, classes may be very expensive. It pretty much comes down to what you like best.

He goes out with the boys to have a beer, you go shopping with your friends and your activities together do not exist anymore. Why don’t you try to make a change? Wouldn’t it be nice that after work, you and your boyfriend have relaxing activities to make you feel great, the same you felt at the beginning of your relationship? Here are some tips:

1. Take dance lessons

Dancing is the most elaborated, emotional and beautiful of all forms of art, dancing is that little bit of escape that we all need.

Dancing Waltz, Tango, Flamenco, Samba, and Cha-Cha-Cha is an artistic way to show your nice and sensuous moves. Do not think you will be embarrassed because the trainer will start with easy stuff till you get more and more experienced. Take comfortable shoes with you. Ladies need to leave shoes with high heels at home, at least for the beginning. It is an opportunity for both to make the others envious on the way you dance when you go to parties. It’s a good chance to unwind and make new friends. Take your partner to the nearest dancing club. You won’t regret it.

2. Go swimming

Besides excellent physical condition that this sport offers, you will have numerous occasions to be close to your partner, to be together and have fun. You can organize a championship: who swims faster or underwater. It would be fun. You will be exhausted but relaxed. There are many swimming pool clubs and you can go there anytime of the year.

3. Play Tennis

Have you forgotten about the competition spirit? It’s time to remember it. Have a tennis match and place bets on who’s the winner. You will spend lovely time together, you will get tired but it is worth doing it.

4. In the kitchen

We do not have to think about cooking as a boring activity. Challenge your partner, you will spend quality time, and you can try a new recipe for an exotic dish. In the end you can even invite friends and have a nice meal together. They can even ”evaluate” the product of your activity.

5. A photo contest

Initiate a contest, you choose theme and location, a park, a busy street, in the country. You can make photos of interesting spots in nature. The one who has the nicest photos is the winner.

When you were little, you probably played with joyful abandonment! Your imagination soared as you transformed yourself on a regular basis. One day you were a princess. The next day might have found you playing cops and robbers. Instead of obsessing over your next meal, you toyed with your food and couldn’t wait to finish eating so the fun could begin again. Never once did you doubt that your dreams would come true. The sky was the limit, and you were the star of your own show.

How quickly things changed! You became all too serious and self-conscious as you worried about looking foolish, being inconvenienced, embarrassing yourself, displeasing others, and being judged. Romping in the rain turned from a joyful experience to something that would make a mess, get you sick, and require you to do your hair all over again. Exercise changed from playing tag, taking dance lessons, or climbing hills to running on treadmills at the gym and keeping up in aerobics class, which you enjoy more if your body looks cute in spandex.

Whether it was making a fort out of sheets, blankets, and pieces of cardboard or changing Barbie’s clothes to suit the occasion, your imagination knew no limits, and you entertained yourself for hours. You didn’t feel guilty for “wasting” your time.

Are you feeling a bit of nostalgia? Well, it’s about time you listen to your inner child. “Grown-up” doesn’t have to mean lifeless. How do you reconnect with that imp inside of you who wants to have fun?

Follow these tips, and you’ll be well on your way:

1. Make a list of playful things you’d love to do – dance, take a walk, read a book, watch a cartoon, ride a horse, learn a language, draw, paint, color, cook, listen to music, flirt – play can mean different things to different people.

2. Schedule time for fun into your calendar.

3. Make a decision to have one new experience each week.

4. Spend time with young children.

5. Ditch the self-consciousness – it no longer serves you!

6. Limit the amount of time you spend around gloom and doom – in the form of the news, television, other people, or your own thoughts.

7. Make a wish list!

8. Pursue your passions!

9. Make a mess!

10. Take time to daydream!

11. Have a pajama party!

12. Have fun and celebrate your life! It’s the only one you have!

Unsure of what to get your grandparents this holiday? Not the books and the checked ties again. Check out these offbeat and a bit outrageous but nevertheless, thoughtful gift ideas.

The Ultimate Makeover Move

Delight grandma with a trendy, new look. Surprise her by setting up an appointment with a makeover team. Give her the entire works – the face, the hair and the outfit. Check out the transformation and enjoy the smile that lights up the wrinkles on her face. And while grandma is away, let grandpa play! Round up his gang and treat him to a special night out with the boys.

Get Together & Party the Night Away

Throw a 50′s themed party or better still a 50′s themed prom. Ask your grandparents and their friends to dress up like they did in the 50s. You can even rent a couple classic cars from “way back then” for everyone to show up in! Play music from that era, open up some cola and watch your otherwise controlled grandparents transform into noisy, giggling teenagers. Make sure you don’t miss out on the fun – be there as the chaperone!

Lessons that Help Unwind & Relax

How about giving your grandparents those lessons they always wanted to take but never had the time. Try dance lessons; Tango, Waltz, Ballroom or a sample lesson shaking to salsa. Adventure sports offer another option – water sports or maybe rock climbing. And if scuba-diving is not their cup of tea, maybe bowling is more up their alley. Art lessons can make a fun gift too. Your grandma will probably love to try her hand at sculpting, painting or craft making.

Weekend at a quaint inn – A different age & time

Give your grandparents the gift of old world charm. A weekend at a quaint inn would do just that. The charming atmosphere of a country inn and personable service will help them relax and take them to another time and place. The lush scenery, nature strolls, comfortable beds and scrumptious breakfast would make them fall in love all over again!

Gift Senior-Friendly Computer Software

As a Christmas gift for grandparents, you can get computer for seniors software, so they can benefit from easier communication with family and friends. It’s not just easy email for seniors that’ll attract their interest, but also the instant chats with family, regular stock updates, seeing regular pictures of grandchildren, online news, shopping, blogging and other fun activities.

I recently got a job teaching children and babies at a daycare how to dance. I want to start incorporating lessons into my classes, as well as change up the exercises each week. What kinds of things should I be trying to teach babies, and what kinds of things should I be trying to teach children from 3-5 years old?

Don’t expect amazing things from 3-5 year olds.

Here’s RADs pre-primary syllabus:
Running in a circle
Running en diagonale
Walking with stretched feet
Walking on demi-pointe
Skips
Demi-plies
Rises
Points
Knee bends
Jumps
Bounces
Claps
Marches
Pony steps
Pony trots
Pony galops

Here’s the primary:
Swaying
Step close step point
Knee lifts
Stork walks
Sautes
Echappes sautes
Spring points
Galops sideways
Jumps with eye focus
Skip change of step

Here’s grade 1:
Battlements tendus
Petit jetes
Bivided battlements tensud
Transfer of weight
Classical walks
Swaying
Spinning
Soubresauts
Galops forward
Step forward (heel toe)
Picked up runs

For babies, focus on rhythm and movement. Clapping in time, counting to 4, bouncing in time, ‘free dance’ to music, happy feet and sad feet (pointed and flexed), pretending to be animals /ghosts /trees /princesses /butterflies, etc.
