My friend (who just turned sixteen) wants to start taking dance lessons. But most girls in our grade have been dancing since they were three, seven, nine, twelve, etc. She feels that she's too old to start. Is she too old to start?
Most definitely not! Your friend should not feel discouraged just because she is starting dancing lessons at this age. Some of the dancers on Dancing With The Stars haven't even danced before! Tell your friend that it is never too late to start dancing and she shouldn't hold back just because of her age!

uh yea, i quitted when i was 16 actually, especially if your just beginning too. iv e danced since i was 3 til i was 16.

No, definitely not. There should still be beginner classes at that age, I know lots of people who try a new style of dance in high school or even as adults. Yes, if she wanted to be a professional ballet dancer, for example, it would be too late – but nothing wrong with doing lessons and having fun!

It's NEVER too late to start dancing, anyone can do it. Now, professional? That depends on how driven she is. But dancing for the fun of it? Never too old, tell her to sign up at a local dance studio.

No, your never to old to learn something new, it just depends if your a fast learner or if you have to left feet

I love that Madonna quote!
I teach and perform bellydance and I never took a lesson until I was 25! Many of my students are women in their 50s who have never danced before. Dance is a beautiful, fun, amazing journey. Your friend should try it out. Different styles place different demands on your body. For example Ballet requires specific changes to your hips, spine and feet that are not likely possible after puberty, so don't expect to be professional, but it can still be fun and have huge health benefits. most other dance forms are a little more accessible and there is a chance of becoming professional, especially in ballroom and bellydance.
I should also mention that dance is in the list of top 10 activities to boost you IQ!!

not at all you can start at any age but if you want to do ballet and become a pro ballet dancer it is not possible.

there really isn't a "too late"…unless u plan on becoming a professional…then yes there is…but if u r planning to do it as a hobby or something like that where u r doing it to simply enjoy…then jus jump straight in and go to a studio that offers the style u want and take a class or something like that…i only started dancing 5 years ago when i turned 19 and now i currently dance for a hip hop troupe…so take it from me…if u want to try jus go for it…it can't hurt

have you ever stand and shake ya body? if yes you have seen that you are never too old to start dancing. dancing have to do with mind, body, spirit and desire. once you have a desire you will not be shy; once you are not shy you will find learning dancing exciting and you will never be bored no matter what. hope you tell your friend this and she see reason in it.
