I’m interested in taking dance lessons and wanted to ask what ype I should take?

Posted on Tuesday in dance lessons | by

I’m a teenager who is interested in taking dance lessons.
I was thinking about take ballet, my mom says it’s a bit pricey and to think about taking dance lessons more.
Is it really pricey?
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions in what type of dance I should take?

Ballet if the foundation for all types of dance. It develops your stamina, body strength, and flexibility. I highly recommend taking ballet if you want to get anywhere with your dancing. Jazz & lyrical are very fun classes, and they are very good for flexibility! Tap & Hiphop are also really awesome classes to take, but you probably won’t get as much out of them as you would from ballet or jazz. I personally love tap, but it is usually just a good, fun workout. Depending on what level you are at, how many classes your taking, and which dance studio you are taking at, classes may be very expensive. It pretty much comes down to what you like best.

    You pick:

    Ballet – Lots of technique and strength training, rather strict, though this is core if you want to get places in dance. Pretty, graceful.

    Jazz – My personal favorite. Similar to ballet though not as strict. You can put yourself into moves you do. Many people get jazz confused with broadway. Many school dance teams do this style.

    Basic Jazz:

    Contemporary – Similar to jazz

    Lyrical – Dancing to the words of music. There are usually not classes to for this style as you will do them in a Jazz class. Many school dance teams do this style.

    Example of Lyrical:

    Hip Hop – Most understand this. Dancing to rap or current popular music. Many fluid and fast footwork.

    If I were you I would take ballet, it is the foundation for all dance, and it would help you in almost any sport you do. I have been taking ballet for about 7 years, and I love it. I have been taking jazz for around 4 years, and I love that too! The price for ballet classes depends on where you take them..an upper scale or more lower scale studio…And broadway dance does have to do with jazz, jazz is a very broad catergory. I also take modern dance and love that too! Good luck!

    I take tap and hip-hop, and then Im going to take ballet next year. If you ever want to go professional or have a major in dancing you need ballet. But just for fun, I would take tap. I love tap the best. Chose what YOU want to chose!

    Some dance studios can be REALLY pricey, but some aren’t. Where I dance, all types of dance classes are the same price.

    Have Fun!=D
