However, my income is limited, as well as my time. Private instruction tends to be more than I could realistically afford while improving at the same time. Are there online resources that would help me learn dance moves in salsa, argentine tango, and any other ballroom and latin dances?
I have basic instruction in most ballroom and latin dances as well as argentine tango. I am looking for moves to be taught.
Many places have social dance nights, but the night-of instructions are usually only the basic step, and most followers don’t know the lead step, or are already dancing with someone who already knows how to dance well.
Figures are easy enough to find. http://www.ballroomdancers.com lists a good number of them. They won’t help much, though, if all you have is a few basic lessons in your background, and you’ll do better to find any way you can, including group classes and local clubs, for less expensive lessons in person. The figures are the least important part, and a very basic pattern done well is much more to be desired than a fancy one done badly. You might want to look for a USA Dance chapter or its equivalent in your area.
Ask local studios if there are any group classes you could go to. Those are generally much cheaper than private lessons. Also ask if they offer social dance nights. A lot of ballroom studios have weekly or monthly social dances that are really cheap. My studio has them every friday and they include an hour of instruction in the "dance of the week" and an hour long social dance all for free for the public. Also ask if their are any community centers that offer social dances or dance lessons.

yea i agree. take a group lesson. i wouldn’t recommend online unless you’re trying just to learn terminology. trust me i tried to do it b/c i wanted to learn more ballet and they totally suck. esp. those expertvillage ones. if you really want to learn you have to have a teacher. if you cant afford, then honestly you should just wait until you can. it’ll be worth it if you put your all into it. that’s what im finding out.
