How do you learn to dance?

Posted on Sunday in learn to dance | by

I know the question's slightly vague
But,
you know school dances and stuff?
To be honest, I suck at dancing.
And I want to know how do you learn to dance?
I mean, its not possible that everyone from school has gone to dancing classes etc, so how do they make their body movements so fluid?
and how do they know what moves to make?

If you get what I'm asking, please explain.
Thanks!
1. How do you get your body fluid?
2. How do you know how to dance? / What moves to make
3. How can I get more flexible?

more details you can add in?
I don't really have extra time to take dance classes
and if i did, i'd probably be at the really bottom.
and for me, its kind of embarassing to ask friends to teach me how to dance, if you get what i mean?

Watch black folk during a Voo Doo Hodown while your standing in a mound of fireants! By the way I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!!! That's how I learned.

to get your body more fluid, just listen to the music, and move the way you feel it

just do what feels right. there's no one way to dance

to get more flexible, try stretching everyday

You need to practice. Look at the videos, get in the mirror, have some courage, and get moving.

Some people are naturals, others have had classes, but most times you just get out there and do your thing.

Practicing in the mirror can help build up your confidence, keep it simple, and stick to what you can do…..don't forget to have fun!

ok honesly take classes is one thing but…itz not like youre going to do your dance routine at a school dance…wut u need to do is feel the music…hear the beat and just let your body move itself ..even if itz just a simple shake just feel the music and dancing will come to you

My advice to everyone with This particular question is: You have to FEEL the music as tho it's coming out from inside you, some people refer to this as rhythm.
Put on a song and listen to the heaviest beat then follow it, do figure 8's with your hips with each beat – half a figure 8 with one beat then the other half to the next beat. FLOW is key to your movement if you are merely moving while music is playing you don't have it, you have to Flow with the music, be smooth in your movements like you are part of the beat.

I would recommend trying a classical song such as Beethoven or Mozart just to break yourself in, swing your arms like they are flowing water nice and smooth to the music, then gradually start swaying your rib cage and imagine that you are the music and the music is the ocean that is named Mozart or whoever. Close your eyes and feel it all around you. If you learned to swim you can learn to dance. Music is water and you have to flow with it, feel it, and be it.
    Catch my drift?
