How do the producers pick the contestants of "Dancing with the Stars"?

Posted on Saturday in dancing with the stars | by

When do the producers of "Dancing with the Stars" start thinking about the next seasons contestants? Do the contestants apply to participate or do the producers choose the contestants?

Who knows. Who in their right mind would sit at the table and think Steve-O would be a good choice? That guy is a train wreck.

I think they try to cover all entertainment areas: Sports, t.v. shows, music, etc. This way there is someone to root for when everyone watches because they can relate to someone on the show.

It's an interesting line up this year and hopefully it will be good. I'm not too thrilled with the choices, but you get to know the "real" people and that always makes it a better show.

Either stars show interest of being on the show or the producers ask the stars if they would like to compete or not.
They probably start thinking about next season's stars around the last season ends.
