How do I learn hip hop dancing?

Posted on Sunday in learn hip hop dancing | by

I have no experience what so ever with dance. I wanna do hip hop but the class I just visited was too hard, the instructor said it was an intermediate class for people with previous dance experience. Should I tough it out or look for another dance school? The owner said if I just kept going at it I could learn it. And what’s the difference between modern dance and hip hop, some is weird ballet other looks like hip hop

The thing with hip hop is that it's not so much about steps as it is with energy, attitude and aggression.

First and foremost, grab a mirror and simply start dancing in front of it. No dancer works without one as it helps you understand your body and what looks good and what does not.

There's a lot of youtube videos that you can look at for inspiration and good copy cat material until you develop your own style.

good luck.

i think that you should go on with it and try it to see if you will like it because even though it looks hard you might get it after a few practices and you never know you might enjoy it alot so yeah if it doesnt work out there then maybe try a different dance school or different style of dance. good luck

If it’s the intermediate class, than maybe you should do the beginner’s class. If the teacher thinks that you can do it, you should. I just moved from intermediate to advanced this year, it’s REALLY hard at first, but, soon you’ll get into the swing of things.

Dancing is all about pushing yourself to new levels. No matter where you dance, or how advanced you are, there’s ALWAYS someone that’s better, and there’s ALWAYS a class that’s more difficult.

My favorite quote, “if dancing were any easier, it would be called football”. lol.

I’ve danced since I was three. Jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, hip-hop, pointe, and choreography.
