I went to a party the other night and a girl asked me to dance with her, I said I couldn’t dance, but she insisted and said that she’ll show me how. Long story short I ended up making a complete fool of myself (but still had fun though!). Anyway, now I want to learn how to dance (no hip hop or ballet anything complicated like that, just casual dancing). How can I learn to dance without lessons?

you can ask one of your friends that do know how to dance. i'm a professional dancer and it's really hard to know how to even do a casual dance if you aren't good at keeping a beat and rhythm

They have a lot of dance videos/dvds that can teach basic dancing. Go to walmart or any place that sells DVD's and they should have a selection to chose from.

Watch TV or videos -dance numbers and all. That's how small kids learn dancing. If you don't want to do even that, just shake your body before a life-size mirror and watch your moves. Repeat the ones you liked.

The point of dancing is that you're having fun. Don't worry about how you look. I'm not neccessarily saying you should go crazy and act like a total loony, just listen to the rhythm of the music, feel it, feel how it makes you want to move. Go with what the other person is doing. Look at others around you and see how they translate the beat to movement. The more you do it and the more comfortable you feel with it, the better you will get!

Just watch people dance and come up with your own. see in the mirror if the look good or not.

You do really need to go to classes where you can dance with others. It is almost impossible to learn on your own.
