Do you think i can lose weight like this?

Posted on Saturday in so you think you can dance | by

ok.
i had a baby about 3 months ago and i realize i need to lose all the weight i gained. i wish i would have started sooner. i am about 260ish pounds at the moment.

i tired but i CANNOT drink water. instead, i drink flavored water and it says 0 calories, caffeine free, and sodium free. i know regular water would be better, but im sticking to this. i love it and cant get enough!! ive been drinking this ever since i had my baby. but i haven't been eating healthy.

but within the last month,
ive replaced sweets with raisins. i love em.
and i love oatmeal bars.

but now, as of about 2 weeks ago ive been cutting out alot more.

mcdonalds salads and parfaits for me, a lifelong nugget fan!

when i do housework, do it vigorously. i try to work a sweat whenever possible. i take the stroller out fro walks al the time, but its more like a power walk than just a leisurely stroll.
this is gonna sound a lil weird, but i also love to put my ipod on and dance dance dance like a crazy women!!!

lol.

im NOT expecting to lose al the weight at once.
it took me 9 months to gain it, and it may take that long to loose it.

but do you think im on the right track?

ahh sorry its so long!! im just looking fro some advice!

Thank you
:)

Don't listen to the person who said acai berries they are just spamming bs. First of all you need to start keeping track of all the calories you eat in a day. If your not willing to do this then you lack the discipline to lose weight. It sounds harsh but its the bottom line.
Next you need to get an idea of your average daily caloric intake and lower this by 500 calories. Keep it lowered for three days and then eat the extra five hundred for 1 day. This is called the zig zag method and it keeps your metabolism from lowering.
Next you need to get some cardio at least 4 times a week where your heart rate stays above 70% of your max target heart rate. You need to maintain this for 30 minutes.
Finally weigh yourself every morning and keep track of the amount of weight you lose every week. If you do all of this well you will lose an average of 2 – 4 pounds per week. This may sound slow but its the only way you will lose the weight in a healthy way and be able to keep it off.

thats a great first step, to replace sweets with raisins. And although salads are supposed to be good for you, they aren't always…especially not with a lot of dressing.

I recommend the book "eat to live" by dr. joel fuhrman. It's REALLY a great book about losing weight naturally.

Congrats on the baby and congrats on the small changes. All those little steps add up to huge strides! First off, I am not a big fan of plain water either. The healthiest alternative is squeezing a slice of lemon in there. Lemon is really good for you and flavors the water nicely. I also use juice packetts (like crystal light) which aren't the BEST but are far better than soda, etc.

First off, if you want to lose weight you should watch your caloric intake. If you go to a site like http://www.livestrong.com you can track what you eat, your exercise, etc. Losing weight really is just simple math.. you need to burn more than you eat.

To figure out the amount of calories you need to eat to lose weight you can start off by calculating your BMR (the amount of calories you burn everyday just by living.. if you were to stay in bed all day you'd still burn these)

    http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

Okay so I just tried out a sample one.
For a 20 year old woman who's 5'5 and 260 lbs her BMR would be: 1954. So if she ate that many calories everyday, she would stay the same weight. If she wanted to lose, she'd eat less than that. It's all simple math.

Remember though, never take things to the extremes, make realistic goals and no woman (even 110 lbs) should be eating less than 1200 calories/day. If you exercise, you need more cals to fuel you.

    Hope I helped.
    Good luck :)

cardio endurance along with light resistance training is considered the most efficient way of managing your health and improving it. Also, great for shedding some pounds.

Running is great, but other alternatives for great cardio workouts include bicycling and swimming. You want to raise your heart-rate and keep it up. This will burn the most calories.

Light resistance training will also help your body to burn through even more calories without causing you to look "buff". I recommend light weight toning exercises starting out with around 3 sets of 25-30 reps.

I think you need to cut out alot more in the food department. Those Oatmeal bars arent that great for losing weight. I dont know how much you eat in a day but you have to make sure you are eating below your maintenance levels on calories but not eating too little. Eat 6 small meals a day and get a lean protein source with each one, A meal could consist of a handful of almonds. Breakfast lunch and dinner shoul dstill be staples but dont over do it and eat a snack between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner. Cut out bread unless its whole grain, sugar, might have to cut down on the raisins, eat lots of green veggies like broccoli. Try to do some bodyweight workouts to start and look into HIIT training. Heres a link to a calorie calculator and an article on HIIT.
