Am I too old to start dance lessons?

Posted on Monday in dance lessons | by

I'm 14, and have never had any formal dance training. I'm afraid to take lessons too because I'm sure all the other people will be so much more experienced than me. I really want to try lessons though, but I can't find a class for beginers my age anywhere. What do I do or join? Is it bad to start at this age?

It's never too late too start :D

I'm 13 and I do dancing. Most of the girls in my classes are 14, 15 and 16 and every year there a number of new girls who are starting for the first time.
I'd suggest the yellow pages or even try asking people if they know of any good dancing schools. That's how I found my dancing school.

    Good luck

many people start dancing when they are small but others start dancing later, if you really want to dance go for it what can you loose. if you don't try you'll never know.

Definitely not. I'm 14, and I just started taking dance around February this year. I had the same worries as you before I made the decision, but I cannot express how glad I am to have taken the dance. I don't know what my life would be right now had I been too scared to try… a million new doors of opportunity opened to me.

All I can tell you is to just go for it. If you don't try, you'll spend the rest of your life wondering what it would have been like… And if you do try, even if you realize it's not your thing, at least you don't have to wonder. :]

Heck to the no is it bad to start at that age.. i was a late starter too, i started at eleven or twelve, at first i took a beginning teen/adult class then i excelled quickly b.c. by taking that class i got extra attention, I'm still with ppl a little younger than i am in most classes, but go for it, ppl won't judge you, they'll think its kewl that your starting something you feel passionate about

no, def not. i didnt have a formal dance training to. but i joined a dance company and it is wherre i bloomed, i thought dancing wasnt for me, i only tried out cause of peer pressure, but after dancing and dancing and dancing nonstop, i fell in love with it.

the core dancers had more experience than me, 10 years.. since they were little…. but i made it as one of their core dancers too,

    btw, i started when i was 15.

and i'm just starting to attend formal classes, ballet.

just go out there and have fun,…. and passion… its all you need. it doesnt matter if they have more experience than you.

    good luck, godbless.
    tc!
